R.U.F.F. is a non-profit organization & pays a minimal staff to care for the dogs, run the office & pays the essential expenses, such as utilities. We depend on donations & volunteers to bring the "extras" to the dogs that are rescued.

Whatever you like to do or are good at, we can use your talents at R.U.F.F.! Volunteers MUST BE OVER 18. Volunteers ages 15 to 18 are allowed if a parent volunteers WITH them.

When you come to R.U.F.F. to volunteer, you will see the kennel staff are ALWAYS VERY busy keeping up with the basics of cleaning, feeding, giving medications, etc. If they seem not to have time to "visit" with you, it's because they don't. But you should check in at the office & have the office assign you to an EXPERIENCED kennel tech - we don't want a new volunteer working with a kennel tech who is still learning their job! Saturdays are a good day to find experienced volunteers at R.U.F.F. who can show you around & answer questions. After that, you can return on days that are convenient for you to perform the services you want to offer.

Not everyone who comes to R.U.F.F. can do just ANY job on their first day. Safety of the dogs & the volunteers is a priority, so some jobs are limited to more experienced volunteers. Also, the time involved to train a good volunteer is valuable.

Obviously you've been to our website. Now, just as you would with other interesting things you find on the web, send our website to friends in your e-mail address book. Not everyone knows about R.U.F.F......yet!

If you want to come in once or twice a year, we are very glad to have you. But your opportunities will be different than those of volunteers who are working with all the dogs on a weekly basis & who get to know the dogs & the procedures better. NO VOLUNTEER SHOULD EVER PET A DOG INSIDE IT'S KENNEL OR GO IN A KENNEL OR TRY TO TAKE A DOG OUT OF A KENNEL FOR ANY REASON WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM A KENNEL TECH WHO IS FAMILIAR WITH THE DOG OR AN EXPERIENCED VOLUNTEER PRESENT WITH THEM! Some of the programs you see on this page are already ongoing. Some we hope to start if we can get enough participants. RIGHT NOW WE ARE BADLY IN NEED OF A VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR. This is a person that new volunteers can contact, say what they are interesting in doing, when they can be available, show new volunteers the RUFF facilities & introduce them to the dogs, keep contact info on the volunteers, etc. If you have time & skills working with people who want to help, a knack for organizing & most of all, love dogs....WE NEED YOU!! We LOVE our volunteers & appreciate every minute you can offer us to make things better for R.U.F.F. dogs!
