This is an exciting & expanding part of our volunteer program. Right now we don't have enough volunteers to handle the offers we get from various businesses to bring R.U.F.F. dogs when they have "adoption days" or other events to promote adoption. YOU MUST TRAIN WITH EXPERIENCED VOLUNTEERS WHEN STARTING THIS TYPE OF VOLUNTEERING. Every 3rd Saturday, 2 of our most experienced volunteers take dogs to PetsMart. The number of dogs who go depends on the number of hands we have to hold leashes. It's a long day & lots of loading/unloading (kennels & dogs)....but it's SO rewarding when a dog YOU took to PetsMart gets adopted because someone saw it there! We are working on other businesses who may let us bring dogs to their location on Saturdays & would love to have dogs at PetsMart on other days of the week. But right now, we don't have enough experienced "hands" to get the dogs out in public as much as we would like to. It's a GREAT day for the dogs, too, when they get some time out of the kennels & get to experience new & different things & learn more of what the world is all about.
